The National Chamber of the Cosmetics, Toiletries and Personal Care Products Industry (CANIPEC) is the trade association for producers of cosmetics, toiletries and personal care products as well as suppliers to the industry. The organization provides leadership to the industry through its programs and services which aim to enhance the industry’s position in the marketplace, increase its use; remove impediments to its fullest use, and assist in achieving the industry’s environmental, societal, and economic objectives CANIPEC represents and defends the general interests of the affiliated industry.

The Chamber was created on January 19, 1978 as a public and autonomous institution with indefinite duration.

CANIPEC’s objectives are to promote the development of the cosmetics and toiletries industry, to seek the amendment or elimination of legal dispositions which adversely affect its members, and to offer to all its affiliates the services that are stipulated in the Law of Chambers and its statutes.

 

With regards to the Chamber’s organization, it basically consists of the General Assembly, the Board of Directors and the Permanent Study Commissions. The Commissions are entrusted with the analysis of all matters that must be settled by the Assembly and the Board of Directors. It is always a goal to assure that the commissions are as diverse as possible in order to give all members adequate representation.

  • The publication of information concerning the market through the Statistical Report, which is edited yearly.
  • Information about the principal legal dispositions published in the Federal Government’s Official Newspaper.
  • Specialized publications, such as the INFOCANIPEC Newsletter, which is published bimonthly, and contains information regarding laws, regulations, origin rules, and export and import tariffs which affect or are relevant to the industry.
  • Special electronic publications and notices concerning the General Health Law relevant to rules governing publicity an sanitation control of products and services, and official Mexican standard in the commercial, labor, ecological, and sanitation areas.
  • Consulting and negotiations in the issues concerning sanitation, commercial, ecological, and labor.
  • Technical support on fiscal, administrative and accounting matters.
  • Employment opportunities-work pool.
  • Trademark search.
  • Professional practices-work experience program which comprehends student social service program with the National Politechnical Institute.
  • Use of the chamber facilities for the celebration events and reunions.
  • Participation in the meetings of the Sectors and Study Commissions as well as. Sanitary, Sustentaible development (Ecology), Commercialization, International Relationships, Legislative Affairs, Small and Medium Businesses, Corporative Issues.
